ATA Engineering Hosts February Advanced Environmental Testing Master Class
ATA Engineering and Siemens Digital Industries Software jointly hosted an advanced environmental testing master class in San Diego, California
SAN DIEGO, Calif., February 22, 2024 – This month, a community of distinguished engineers gathered for an advanced environmental testing master class jointly hosted by ATA Engineering and Siemens Digital Industries Software. Held at ATA’s headquarters in San Diego, California, on February 6–8, this event featured valuable training sessions tailored to aviation, defense, automotive, and marine engineers seeking to gain new insights in identifying design or performance weaknesses that may occur over a product’s lifespan. Over the course of three days, attendees engaged in dynamic discussions and collaborative sessions, fostering innovation and enhancing expertise in the realm of environmental testing. Together, the group discussed a variety of topics:
- Signal conditioning
- Dynamics of an electrodynamic shaker
- Controlling highly dynamic test articles
- Notching/limiting for safer vibration testing
- Force-limited vibration testing and limiting of overturning moments
- Overshoot and its effects on notching channels
- Combined mode testing tips
- Shock response spectrum (SRS) vs. pseudo-velocity SRS
- Demystifying pyro-shock testing
- Multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) control
- Mission synthesis
Real-life application examples were demonstrated, providing insight into effective implementation of these crucial techniques to enhance and broaden existing testing methodologies.
