ATA Engineering Announces the Release of IMAT v7.8.0

Enhancements include the new MIFODS application, customizable time-domain filtering, and capability for processing complex stress and strain input for von Mises calculations.

SAN DIEGO, Calif., October 6, 2021 – ATA is excited to announce the release of version 7.8.0 of the IMAT family of software products. IMAT is a MATLAB toolbox designed for test and analysis engineers who process data from a variety of sources. This release brings a number of useful new enhancements to the powerful functionality available in IMAT.

ATA is committed to providing new IMAT releases in conjunction with new MATLAB releases. ATA Engineering designed IMAT v7.8.0 to work with MATLAB R2021b as well as previous releases back to R2018b. IMAT v7.8.0 also supports Abaqus 2019 and Femap 2021.2.

Notable IMAT Upgrades:

Design your own time response function filters

Time-domain filters in IMAT are now more customizable, with the ability to accept user-designed filters for time response functions. When the defaults in IMAT’s filteri and filterf functions don’t quite meet your needs, the new filteru (“u” for user) function lets you apply a custom, user-designed filter instead. The function supports most MATLAB Signal Processing toolbox filter definitions, such as transfer function, zero, pole, gain, state-space, second-order systems, digitalFilter, and dfilt object.

Avoid errors in von Mises calculations

Need to calculate von Mises after the fact from steady-state frequency-domain analysis results? imat_result can now process complex stress or strain input and will automatically select the most appropriate equation for your data, providing confidence that your results are accurate.

Notable IMAT+Modal Upgrades:

Easily generate operating deflection shapes

In this release, IMAT+Modal expands its suite of applications for extracting modal parameters from frequency response functions with MIFODS. MIFODS provides a convenient way to produce operating deflection shapes (ODS) for peaks selected from mode indicator functions (MIF), letting you quickly animate shapes from a selected spectral line frequency for troubleshooting or perform more detailed analyses by estimating frequency and damping from a spatially filtered, enhanced frequency response function. MIFODS complements IMAT+Modal’s OPoly and SDOFit and is also fully integrated with IMAT+Signal’s spVIEW and spFRF.

The new MIFODS graphical user interface lets you produce operating deflection shapes by picking peaks in mode indicator functions.
