SAN DIEGO, Calif., January 7, 2020 – ATA Engineering, Inc., (ATA) is excited to announce that Mr. Joshua Davis has been promoted to the position of President of ATA. Dr. Mary Baker, President of the company since its founding in 2000, will continue in her role as Chairperson and in providing technical expertise on ATA’s engineering project work.
Mr. Davis has been with ATA for more than 18 years. He has held roles in many of the company’s technical groups and has used that experience to investigate and apply multidisciplinary solutions for the design, analysis, and testing of complex products across a multitude of industries. In his most recent role as Director of Technology Development and Innovation, Josh’s responsibilities included enacting ATA’s research and development strategy and managing teams creating novel engineering methods and software products. In addition to overseeing the company’s independent research and development (IRAD) investment, he spent several years leading ATA’s efforts funded under the highly competitive U.S. Government Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs, supporting ATA’s engineers throughout the proposal, execution, and technology commercialization of more than fifty Phase I, II, and III SBIR/STTR contracts. A key aspect of this work has been the formation of strategic partnerships with research collaborators in academia and industry.
Mr. Davis received his M.S. degree in Ocean Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his B.S. degree in Ocean Engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology. He has also earned the Advanced Communicator Bronze award from Toastmasters International.
In discussing the change, Dr. Baker stated, “I am proud of what ATA has accomplished in the past two decades, which includes participating in the success of flagship aerospace missions, the flight of key launch vehicle components, and the introduction of popular themed entertainment attractions, while growing our staff count more than sixfold. I am eager to see what we will be able to achieve with our customers in the future, and I believe that Josh’s experience in innovation leadership will foster continued advancement of the engineering methods that enable ATA to provide solutions with unique value to our customers.”
