ATA is a recognized leader in the application of advanced methods for satisfying mechanical, structural, thermal, fluids, and acoustic design requirements for defense and aerospace structures at the component, subsystem, and system levels. We have over 45 years of experience leveraging our expertise in mechanical design, analysis, and testing to provide multidisciplinary solutions that address cost, quality, and schedule challenges. Through ATA’s commitment to continuous improvement and innovation, and related emphasis on knowledge share and technology transfer to our clients, we regularly develop and deliver new methods and capabilities for more efficient engineering workflows.
Our analysis and test services for launch vehicles started in the 1970s, when ATA engineers were asked to help assess vibration issues impacting the Space Shuttle. Since then, ATA’s role in the spacecraft and launch vehicle community has expanded to include many aspects of design and development. We have specific expertise in predicting and assessing the structural, thermal, and vibroacoustic loads on launch vehicles, interplanetary spacecraft, and planetary landers during launch, ascent, landing, and while on orbit. We have experience providing structural, thermal, and optical performance (STOP) analysis of optical payloads; linear and nonlinear analysis of solid and liquid rocket engines; multibody dynamic simulation of deployment events; and support of structural, thermal, and acoustic test campaigns. We also have unique composites expertise, including the design, analysis, fabrication, and testing of spacecraft primary structures.
ATA provides a comprehensive set of analysis and test services to the aircraft and aeronautics industry to support development programs for military fighter jets and cargo planes; large commercial and regional aircraft; aircraft stores, radomes, and their payloads; helicopters; unmanned aerial vehicles; and next-generation hypersonic vehicles. Our relevant capabilities include loads development and analysis, detailed stress analysis, cabin and external acoustic environment definition, sonic fatigue assessment, computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and fluid-structure interaction (FSI) simulation, aeroelastic stability prediction, and conjugate heat transfer analysis. ATA also has specific expertise in rotorcraft aeromechanics modeling, stability analysis, and empennage buffet loads prediction. ATA is the leading independent company for the performance of ground vibration tests (GVTs), with experience conducting hundreds of GVTs for new and modified commercial and military aircraft, and our test–analysis correlation services and software enable us to confidently predict aeroelastic stability and flutter in a way that significantly reduces risk to the pilot and vehicle. ATA can also support FAA flutter and loads certification in collaboration with one of ATA’s designated engineering representative (DER) partners or through ATA collaboration with a customer DER.
