ATA’s Dr. Parthiv Shah Receives AIAA Associate Fellow Award

SAN DIEGO, Calif., October 6, 2020 – On September 28, Dr. Parthiv N. Shah, ATA’s technical director of fluid dynamics and propulsion, was named a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Class of 2021 Associate Fellows.

Dr. Shah is recognized for his leadership in the research and development of aeroacoustics design, analysis and test methods including high-resolution acoustic array measurement technologies and an engine air-brake nozzle for quiet aircraft approach applications, and novel methods in aerodynamics, propulsion systems, turbomachinery, and thermal-fluids engineering.

Professionals selected to the AIAA Class of Associate Fellows must demonstrate accomplishments and leadership in engineering and science, with an emphasis on outstanding contributions to aeronautics and astronautics.

“Dr. Shah’s recognition is a testament to his achievements in the aeroacoustics and fluid dynamics and propulsion fields,” ATA Vice President and General Manager Mr. Tom Deiters said in response. “ATA’s staff of distinguished, exemplary engineers are committed to innovating new technologies and providing excellent value to our customers.”

Dr. Shah has over a decade of experience leading and supporting ATA customer projects in fluid dynamics and related disciplines, and he has served as principal investigator on a number of successful Small Business Innovation Research projects sponsored by the Department of Defense, NASA, and Air Force Research Laboratory. In addition, Dr. Shah has been awarded four patents related to aircraft engine nozzle exhaust technologies and high-resolution acoustic measurement techniques during his time at ATA.

AIAA will honor the Class of 2021 Associate Fellows at the virtual AIAA SciTech Forum in January.
