ATA recognized for excellence in engineering support of JPL development programs
SAN DIEGO, Calif., Feb. 23, 2011 — ATA Engineering, Inc., (ATA), a nationwide provider of innovative, high-value test- and analysis-driven mechanical engineering design solutions, has been selected by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) as the 2011 recipient of the Thomas H. May Legacy of Excellence Award.
The Thomas H. May Legacy of Excellence Award is an annual award presented by JPL to a small business for excellence in subcontract performance. Mr. May served as the Manager of the JPL Business Opportunities Office and Supplier Diversity Program for over 30 years. He viewed small businesses as key collaborators in NASA’s efforts to fulfill its vision for space exploration. The award was established in honor of Mr. May’s commitment to small business utilization and recognizes small businesses that demonstrate the ability to go above and beyond what has been asked of them and exceed expectations.
ATA was selected for award for work performed in support of multiple JPL spacecraft and science programs including Mars Science Laboratory, the next Mars rover. ATA personnel have provided continuous support to JPL in structural, thermal, and testing engineering since 2004.
The award will be presented to ATA on March 1, 2011 at the 23rd annual NASA/JPL High-Tech Conference.
